Exhaust or circular silencers

In the exhaust piping of combustion engines, small gas turbines and in the blow-down piping of compressors, discharging combustion gases or compressed air generate noises with broadband sound spectrums. We at G+H employ three silencer solutions for highly effective damping:

  • QAN circular silencer
  • SPN circular silencer
  • High-temperature conductive plate baffles

QAN circular silencer

The QAN circular silencer is a modular absorption silencer designed to damp low and medium frequencies of pipes in industrial applications. The standardization creates economic benefits for our customers while also providing the perfect functionality. It is available in three damping classes: 15, 25 and 35 decibels.

The QAN circular silencer is equipped as standard with:

  • A cylindrical outer jacket with domed discs
  • A gastight, welded casing made of steel
  • Steel perforated plates
  • Temperature-resistant mineral wool with a stainless steel needle-punched non-woven covering
  • Joining pipe nozzles with nominal diameters from DN 100 to DN 1000 with or without plain flanges to DIN 2573

If necessary, we can also use special materials, such as boiler plate and high-grade steel, and produce the casing in the form of a pressure vessel. These products can also be combined with resonation chambers, produced in an angular shape with side connections, or designed with spark arresters (PTB Certif. No. III B/ S 1201).

SPN circular silencer

Noise from turbo-compressors, blowers, jet pumps and small gas turbines, which generally generate mid to high frequencies, can be silenced particularly effectively with the G+H SPN silencer.

In this case, the standard design includes:

  • A cylindrical outer jacket with domed discs
  • A gastight, welded casing made of steel
  • Perforated plates made of stainless steel
  • Temperature-resistant mineral wool with a stainless steel needle-punched non-woven covering
  • Joining pipe nozzles with nominal diameters from DN 40 to DN 900 with or without welded-on flanges to DIN 2632

Here, too, we can also produce the casing as a pressure vessel and, in individual cases, use special materials, high-temperature conductive plate baffles and traps in the silencer inlet. They can also be combined with resonation chambers.

High-temperature conductive plate baffles

High-temperature conductive plate baffles are ideal for reducing the noise level of exhaust gas streams at temperatures above 150 °C. The specific selection of materials and the frame design ensures the stability of the baffles even under the toughest temperature and flow loads.

To do so, we work with:

  • Welded stable frame designs with intermediate bulkheads of smooth sheet
  • Temperature- and vibration-resistant mineral fibers with stainless steel needle-punched non-woven covering
  • Upstream flow side half-round, flow-off side with short diffuser

Special absorbers made of stainless steel or ceramic wool, optimized flow forms and special adaptations to the housing geometries are also possible depending on an application’s specific requirements.
